FALCON PRO 2013

Home ROUND ONE PINEWOOD RACEWAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2013

The 3rd of February saw 12 racers arrive for the first round of the 2013 series. Due to the level of turnout it was decided to Qualify in all 3 classes and the racing was highly competitive with a few new names in the higher places.  Many thanks go to Nigel and co. For organising running the days racing which was relaxed and unpressured off the track but fast and furious on it!

Falcon Pro is organised so racers do not feel the absolute pressure to compete every round country wide, unless they wish to as only 3 scoring rounds need to be completed prior to the final which means that some guys will only pick to do maybe the Midlands round at Rockingham + the two southern or northern rounds prior to the final. In these days of triple dip recession it was thought by far the fairest and most economical way of ensuring racers don’t feel the compunction to empty their wallets with long distance travel over the entire season unless they wish to.

And so to the event!  Concourse was won by Paul Harwood with his great looking 1/32 car pictured above.

SHOCK HORROR EXPOSE’!

Before the F1 race, the great Paul Harwood (legend in his own lifetime for trying to figure out which end of the soldering iron to use) actually soldered a new motor into John Ovens car. Needles to say the entire field was taking bets on when it would fall out but amazingly all bets were off when John finished in 3rd place with motor still attached! So the old saying “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” doesn’t seem to apply to Mr Harwood! (Soldering wise anyway!)

1/24th Sports saw a TQ from Paul who went on to take the win from home racer Nigel (enjoying the race with a blagged car) and Nick Thrower taking 3rd close behind (good to see Nick getting a good result after the drama of getting his motor knocked out in 1/32 Production.

All in all a relaxed, fun days racing (complete with a break for lunch), a good deal of humour and some really great, competitive racing.

It was decided as there were 12 mugs in the prize box and a total of 12 racers, everyone should go home with a mug! So all racers departed with something to show for the day!  Again, Many thanks for Nigel and Co. for running the event on this great track.

Looking forward to seeing even more racers for some Competitive, Fun and Low Cost Racing
For Round 2 on APRIL 7th at PONTEFRACT!
